I was googling around last night and found the first review ‘Tails’ ever received back in 2005 (the original mini-series, not the webcomic). It was written by my then-Diamond account handler, Filip Sablik, promoting the release of the first issue. I can’t believe how quickly half a decade can breeze by. Mr. Sablik is currently a publisher (or is it the publisher?) at Top Cow. Small world.

(UPDATED) I’m selling copies of the original 2006 ‘Tails’ graphic novel at only $8 a pop! Winner of Best Graphic Novel during the 2007 Independent Publishers Book Awards. The inspiration for this webcomic you all know and love. It’s like the short film that inspires the full-length studio-backed blockbluster.

Just so there’s no confusion: this is not a collected format of the current ‘Tails’ webcomic. This 96-page trade paperback collects the original mini-series which ran from 2005 to 2006. The story and art are a tad different (for one thing, the animals talked in the original). Here’s an explanation for those who came in late. Some of you have inquired about purchasing the original, so here’s your opportunity. You can read some reviews here and here (both require some scrolling).

…I started tailscomic.com as a webcomic. It’s bizarre how quickly a year can fly by. It’s been a great year; posting up stories, getting feedback, receiving both good and bad reviews, conversing with all you folks out there. I hope all of you have enjoyed reading Tails as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it.
